About Jams World
Founder Dave Rochlen, avid surfer in Hawaii, was inspiried by a Life magazine article about exotic Russian pajamas donned by beachgoers at Black Sea resorts, and decided to create his own colorful line of surf-friendly shorts. Dave coined the term "Jams", short for pajamas - and Jams World was born.
 
He opened Surf Line Hawaii, Ltd., a surf shop on Kona Street in Honolulu, and his first pair of commercial Jams hit Makaha Beach in December 1964. Today, the iconic bold and colorful Jams World pieces are as popular as ever, especially in its home state of Hawai'i.
